There is a very in depth history of the country, too, making it a very good utility for making the timeline later in the project.

Kabar, a Afghan-Christian convert, says that Christians and Muslims existed almost peacefully for a while, until the Taliban came to power in the mid-'90s. Mullah Omar ordered Christian churches to be burned and for any Afghan-Christians to be lynched, and to kill or drive out anyone else who followed Christ. The Taliban would torture Christians so they would tell the names of other Christians. America and other Western Countries were unaware of the persecution until Rahman (mentioned in the ABC article) was almost executed for reading the Bible to his two year olds. The estimate for Christians in Afghanistan here are 1,000 - 2,000 , saying that the 10,000 estimate is greatly exaggerated.

ABC goes into detail about how Karzai was only the face of the government. There were estimates of 10,000 Christians living underground and in fear of execution if they are caught worshipping Jesus and God. Rahman's own family ratted him out to the government when he read the Bible to his two year olds, if Christian Groups and Human Rights Groups did not intervene, Rahman would probably already have the death penalty.
